GOLAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM. This museum has an excellent, bilingual
exhibit on ancient settlements in the Golan. It displays the remnants of 2000-year-
old synagogues, including a lintel inscribed with the Talmudic sage Eliezer Ha-
Kappar's name, and sculptures from a Chalcolithic settlement dating back to 4000
ВСЕ. It also shows an amazing 17-minute audio-visual presentation on the Great

ANCIENT KATZRIN PARK. The excavations at this site have unearthed a richly
ornamented synagogue in use from the 4th through 8th centuries CE. Don't miss
the six-screen audio-visual presentation shown in a reconstructed synagogue or
the two reconstructed houses with furnishings based on finds from the excava-
tions. (Just outside of modern Katzrin, to the right down Rt088; look for a brown sign point-
ing to the left. Save money

USHA'AR HA-GOLAN (GATE OF THE GOLAN). This newly opened information
center shows on a giant screen an informative 17-minute movie that covers the his-
tory and geography of the Golan Heights. In another pavilion is an enormous, con-
tinually updated, 1:5000 three-dimensional map of the Golan that includes every
house, road, stream, hill, and radio tower in the entire region. (Next to the Ancient

GOLAN HEIGHTS WINERY. For those who find Katzrin's museums and Talmudic
village too sobering, the Golan Heights Winery is a great alternative. The winery
produces the world-renowned Yarden, Gamla, and Golan labels. A one-hour tour
includes a video explanation, a look at the production process, a souvenir glass,
ада a taste of grapey bliss along with a demonstration on how to taste wine. The
shop sells bottles of their wine beginning at NIS25. (From the center of Katzrin, turn right

KATZRIN DOLL MUSEUM. Rows of glass cases feature woolly-headed dolls, all
Rearing looks of blank astonishment. A separate children's room displays epi-
